Guidelines for Ružinov residents for spring cleaning

Every municipality in Slovakia is required to organize collection of bulky waste from its residence twice a year. City district Ružinov traditionally organizes events called Spring and Fall cleaning. During these events public utility services Ružinov places larger capacity containers and ensure their periodic removal. 

Bulky waste in considered, based on Waste act, waste that due to its size cannot fit into a standard waste bin and doesn’t contain hazardous substances. 

Example of bulky wastes include: furniture, sinks, kitchen cabinets, carpets, linoleum etc.

Bulky waste does not include: garden bio waste – grass, leaves, branches and trunks, street cleaning waste, paper, glass etc. 

The collection of bulky waste is exclusively for items that are difficult to transport to the collection yards. Other types of waste have their own collection systems, which are continually being improved to be as accessible as possible.  

OPTIONS FOR DISPOSING WASTE THAT DOES NOT BELONG IN BULKY WASTE CONTAINERS

Tires can be easily handed over at any tire shop or service center. These businesses are required to accept them free of charge and without any purchase requirements. More information and a list of collection points can be found in the website: www.eltma.sk There are many collection points in and around Ružinov.     

Car batteries can be handed over at any store selling car batteries, such as car parts stores, repair shops, and some gas stations. Collection is also not tied to the purchase of a new battery. 

Electronic waste
The city district has an agreement with the company Envidom s.r.o. which organizes a separate collection as part of this event. (starý datum). Residents can register for the collection of this type of waste at the local office by phone 02/48284454 (1st contact) or by email at eva.sramekova@ruzinov.sk. The registered electronic waste will be collected by Envidom from the applicant’s home (apartment buildings or houses) on the day of collection. 

Garden bio – waste from houses (grass, branches, wood)
The city district has made provisions for residents of houses to dispose of this type of waste year – round at the VPSR collection yard, Mlynské luhy 19, 82105 Bratislava. Residents must arrange their own transportation.
